Melieni Talakai, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, offered to prepare a Polynesian feast as a silent auction prize at RFHC’s 5th Anniversary Gala celebration in March. Palo Alto Medical Foundation pediatrician Rick Lloyd, MD and his wife Mary won the live auction bidding.

The Polynesian Affair was held on June 10th at Gordon Russell’s house with 25 pediatricians and their spouses attending.

The sumptuous feast included a roasted pig as well as Tongan specialties prepared by Melieni’s family and Philippino dishes prepared by Luisa Buada.

Hawaiian music was followed by dance performances by Melieni’s children – twins Mei and Hau and her 16 year old twin sons Lupe and Vuki and their 13 year old brother Vita.

Matini, a well-known teacher of Pacific Island dances and his cousin also performed.
