Sherri Sager: Nominee for Outstanding Fundraising Volunteer Award
|
|
Sherri Sager is widely known in Silicon Valley and was recognized for her singular dedication to the public good in 1995 when the Santa Clara County Human Relations Commission presented her with the Betty Ann Sellers Memorial Aware for outstanding service to the community in the field of Human Relations and Human Rights.
Since 1979 when Sherri Sager joined the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Santa Clara, she has volunteered her impressive talents to the nonprofit sector for the past 25 years. She has served on Boards and advisory committees for no less than 15 organizations. Each has its unique set of challenges. She brings to the table her political acumen, community relations experience and organizing and fundraising skills. Currently, she sits on three nonprofit boards and three community advisory boards.
She is seasoned, sound in judgment, and a powerful advocate. She is rightfully esteemed by nonprofit leaders and many community members.
“Her assistance to our clinic is incredible. If comes from her as a person. We’re so fortunate to have the benefit of her brains and her experience as well as her great heart.”
Melieni Falemaka Talakai, Vice Chair, Board of Directors Ravenswood Family Health Center
In her official capacity as Chief Government Relations Officer for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital she has many years of political experience to draw upon, having started her career as a Legislative Assistant to a member of Congress in 1975. She has been a consultant to political candidates, elected officials and non-profits. At LPCH, she has organized the government relations program and monitors proposed law and public policy that may impact the hospital. She flies regularly to Washington D.C. or drives to Sacramento frequently, but somehow manages to make it to almost every meeting.
She has attended our board meetings since Ravenswood Family Health Center opened in 2001. As an Ex Officio Board member she sits on our Fund Development Committee and spearheaded our Friends of the Clinic campaign, recruiting sponsors, soliciting donations, and always making hers the first gift. In 2004 she presented a proposal to Lucile Packard’s Board of Trustees that led to a community gift of $588,700 over three years to fund pediatric services at the clinic. She also serves on our Strategic Planning Committee and Building Committee.
