Taproot to the Source
Ravenswood Family Health Center launched its website in June.
It is the work of a talented team of volunteers recruited by the Taproot Foundation.
Taproot is the brainchild of Aaron Hurst, a social entrepreneur who came up with a resourceful plan that is as practical as a paperclip. Taproot's mission is to make marketing design and project management expertise available to nonprofits at no cost by awarding service grants that link professional volunteers to carry out nonprofit projects.
It's a double win. The expense of a design project is covered by the donation of talent and in the process of collaborating, nonprofit and corporate professionals learn from each other.
A Cast of Moonlighters
Our website was composed by a team of professional "moonlighting" volunteers who came to evening meetings, fitting our project into after hours, sometimes working late into the evening to bring their product, our website, to market by June.

Taproot Team: Peggy Kenny, Nabin Bilas, Srinivas Badami, Thomas Rayas, Robert Blatherwick

Thomas Rayas served as Program Officer. He co-founded AXIS Market Solutions and has over 15 years in technology management. He is a realtor with Intero Real Estate Services.
Nabin Bilas, Grant Manager, kept the team to the timeline. He has 10 years in IT project management and works with AAA as Program Manager.
Kristen Shue, Marketing Manager, has worked with HP, Sun, and Macromedia.
Robert Blatherwick, a print and digital designer from England, has worked with Electronic Arts, CNET, and currently works with Macromedia and has his own design company.
Peggy Kenny, Copywriter, provides technical and creative writing services to clients including Cisco Systems and Apple Computer.
Srinivas Badami from Oracle Corporation and Guatao Lu, an engineer with Yahoo, were the Web Developers for the project.
We're grateful for their gifts of time and talent that created our new website.
