Interview / Orientation
Any person seeking a regular volunteer position will be scheduled for a screening interview with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your interests and potential volunteer assignments. During this interview, we will take you on a tour of the clinic, describe each volunteer opportunity, and answer your questions. We'll tell you about the availability and requirements for specific positions, and discuss necessary health clearances, clinic policies and procedures, volunteer rules, and security issues.
We will also set up a meeting with your supervising staff or medical provider to determine compatibility, training, and work schedule. Volunteers will be placed as soon as possible when their requested position becomes open. If there are no current openings for your skills, we will keep your application on file until we can match your schedule and interests.
Health Requirements
Every regularly scheduled volunteer at the clinic has to provide health clearance information, including verification of a negative tuberculin skin test completed within the last 12 months. If your TB skin test is positive, you will need to provide a copy of a negative chest X-ray done within the past year. Some departments may require proof of Hepatitis B vaccination. If you have not received immunizations, we can refer you to other health agencies that provide these tests, or arrange for the tests to be done here at the clinic.
Fingerprinting
Volunteers age 18 and older who work in the Pediatrics department or with children must be fingerprinted. We will make arrangements for you to be fingerprinted if needed.
